Been there and done that?


Recognition for what you know and can do already is often called Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Recognition of Current Competence (RCC).

AHEA has developed a simple to follow process to achieve recognition of your competence. We call it Facilitated Recognition because we support you through the process.

Certificate III in Teacher's Assistant

Main Fields of Study

  • Work effectively in an educational environment
  • Facilitate the implementation of planned education programs
  • Contribute to the education of students in all developmental domains
  • Support students with additional needs in the classroom
  • Identify and respond to children and young people at risk of harm
  • Work effectively with culturally diverse clients, customers and co-workers
  • Develop own professional skills
  • Contribute to the organisation and management of the classroom or centre
  • Provide reading, writing and maths  and oral support to students

Entry Requirements

Either:
  • satisfactory completion of a Year 10 education;
  • persons employed in the industry; or
  • adult entry

Employment Oppurtunities

On completion of the course you will be eligible to apply for positions working from Kindergarten to Year 10 as an assistant.

Jobs are varied, from a full time position as a Pre-Primary assistant to a part-time helper for a child with special educational or social requirements. These positions are regularly advertised in magazines produced by the 
Education Department and the Catholic Education Commission and on their web sites.

*** All units require students to demonstrate that they have gained competence from
        on-the
job training (Supervised Field Placement).
